Typically when someone comes in for an Acupuncture session they know needles will be involved (no they don’t hurt). However, Acupuncture sessions can and may involve more than just needles. Traditional Chinese Medicine encompasses more than just Acupuncture. During training as an acupuncturist we learn several modalities such as; dietary recommendations, exercises, tui na massage, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, electrical stimulation, and for some herbal medicine.
Your acupuncture session will be unique to what is showing up in your health history and your chief complaint. Not to mention each session may be different depending on updates and the outcome of your previous session/general health progress.
As practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine we are equipped with a deep toolbox of modalities to aid in the bodies recovery. We are trained to listen well and pick up on patterns presented to diagnose and treat. It is common that the treatment room becomes your safe space to release your stress, pain, and experiences.
