WHAT IS CUPPING?

Cupping is the use of special plastic or glass cups on the skin to create suction to relieve pain, inflammation, relaxation, reduction of tight muscles, and improve blood flow. Although it may look strange, it has a soothing effect on the muscles. Causing you to feel a deep relief in areas where you carry a lot of tension.

DOES IT HURT?

Don’t let the cupping marks scare you. It doesn’t hurt at all! You may feel the initial suction on the skin. However, it is a gentle feeling.

WHAT ABOUT THE FIRE?

The fire is used to draw the oxygen out of the cup and create a suction on the skin. Fire is not applied to the skin.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

You know those tight muscles that you just can’t seem to relax. Cupping helps with that! Migraines, stiff neck and back, fertility, constipation, improves circulation, reduces body aches associated with cold and flu, and so much more.

WHAT ABOUT THOSE CRAZY RED MARKS?

You can expect to have red-purple cupping marks anywhere from 3 days to 1 week after treatment. Typically the tighter/congested an area is, the darker the cupping mark.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CUPPING?

Yep! Stationary cupping is when a cup is applied to one location and does not move. Sliding cupping is just that cups are applied on the skin and they are moved around along the muscle or area of the body that is being worked on. These are two most common styles of cupping I practice.

Acupuncture: The Best Way to Alleviate Tight Musculature

acudryneedling

Did you ever wake up to a tight or stiff neck? You feel around and notice a huge knot, you then try to rub and massage the area with little to no relief. Or maybe you are very active or work out on a regular basis and notice certain areas of your body are sore.

If you are seeking relief for tight and sore muscles- acupuncture is the way to go! Acupuncture is a powerful and effective therapy that helps to release trigger points in various muscles of the body.

TRIGGER POINT DRY NEEDLING

Trigger point dry needling is the use of an acupuncture needle inserted through the skin and into the belly of the muscle to release painful myofascial trigger points. The needle gently stimulates the muscle to respond with a quick light twitch response. The result is decreased pain and better range of motion in the targeted muscle.

DOES IT HURT?

No, dry needling is not painful. For many patients they notice some soreness after the release. However, the relief is pretty significant!

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED

Pretty much any muscle in the body! Some common areas I see in my practice over the years is the upper back and trapezius muscle, piriformis muscle, gluteus muscles, and muscle surrounding the iliotibial band.

If you're curious about a specific area of your body, that has been ailing you, don't hesitate to schedule a free consultation.
