A common question I receive is; How often should I attend acupuncture? And the truth is, it depends! It depends on the what we are addressing, the condition, how long you’ve been dealing with the condition, and you’re overall healthy history. In general, the best advice is to attend a consultation to learn specific recommendations tailored to your health needs.
However, there are still some general guidelines you can rely on to gain the best results. When it comes to pain relief, I typically recommend 1-2 sessions weekly for 4-6 weeks. If a pain condition is chronic and you have been experiencing pain or imbalance for longer than 6 months, I recommend 2 sessions weekly for 6-8 weeks.
The biggest take away is— Acupuncture takes time! Each session is resetting and reprogramming the body to health and balance. In most cases one session just isn’t enough. It’s important to attend sessions close together. When you wait too long between session it can be hard to set up a good foundation towards progress. The body needs to receive the “acu-signals” in regular routine sessions to trigger a long term + effective result.
Remember your pain condition didn’t manifest overnight. And most likely neither will relief. You may feel great after your session for a few days, but the pain will often return. Relief after your session is a great sign you can expect big results if you stick to the treatment plan.
